The friendly, informative staff of the Building Department is ready to help you navigate the process of obtaining a Building Permit. We have contact information for any necessary agencies or other departments you may be required to gain approval from prior to a Building Permit being issued.

Except for a few exemptions, all residential, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings constructed, altered, relocated or demolished in the Municipality requires a Building Permit or Demolition Permit. Please contact us at (902) 275-3080 to see your project requirement.

Once you have obtained a Building Permit, the Building Inspector will conduct inspections and insure that the requirements of the Building Code are met. Arrange an inspection by contacting the office during specific stages of construction, which are provided with your Building Permit.
