Christmas at Grunion Bay at the Chester Playhouse starting 8:00 pm. Christmas at Grunion Bay is an updated version of a play that was first presented by the Chester Drama Society in 1998. It is a full length two-hour romp, featuring 13 adults and 5 children, about a small town in Newfoundland that is undergoing tough times. The local drama group decides to put on Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to raise funds and cheer up the townsfolk. During rehearsals a massive snow storm socks them in, along with the passengers of a small jet: three theatre mavens and their pilot enroute from London to NY. Think Come from Away but outrageous and no casseroles. Many epiphanies ensue along with music, mirth and a heartening finale. The play is authored by Malcolm Callaway with collaboration from Ryan Smith. Traditionally Callaway's Christmas plays are not recommended for children. This one, however, is more family friendly. Tickets: Adults $19, Seniors $16 and Students $10. For more info/tickets, call the Playhouse 902-275-3933 or visit: www.chesterplayhouse.ca.
