Saturday 24 March 2018, 10:00am - 02:00pm

Come celebrate the Municipality of Chester’s newest green space at “CASTLE ROCK” in East River. Guided hikes through the day from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Park at the trail parking lot, 7846 Rte. 329 (just south of the junction with Hwy 3). Signage will be in place to point you in the right direction from there. Use caution crossing highways 329 and 3. From the parking lot it is 3.2 km to the Castle Rock trailhead. Guided hikes will depart the trail head every 30 minutes beginning at 10:00 am. At the trailhead, we will have a cabin tent with a stove to keep you cozy and warm cocoa for you. There are no washroom facilities on the route so be prepared to use the woods which means to leave the trail, and to bury waste or pack it out. Your dogs are welcomed but please be considerate of wildlife and other people who may be wary of them. Keep them on leash at all times, and be sure to clean up after them. Dress for the weather conditions of the day and expect wind exposure and colder temperatures on the peak. Bring water and energy snacks for everyone in your group.  For more info call the Chester Rec & Parks Department 902-275-3490.
