Senior Planner Position Ad & Description
Under the supervision of the Planning Director, the Senior Planner will immediately be responsible for initiating a community planning process to implement the Integrated Community Sustainability Plan adopted by Council in 2009. This is expected to involve a complete review of the Municipal Planning Strategy for the District of Chester, with its attendant research, mapping, public consultation, policy development and by-law drafting. The Senior Planner will also assist and advise other planning department staff in day to day operations. A working knowledge of the Nova Scotia land planning and regulatory processes, the Municipal Government Act, and the software associated with a planning office is essential for this position. Training or experience in Geographic Information Systems is an asset.
The successful candidate will have a combination of planning experience and education which will have prepared him or her for the challenges of working in a municipal planning office with minimal supervision, and will be eligible for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners.
