Amendments to Municipal Planning Strategy and Village of Chester Secondary Planning Strategy
On May 7, 2026, Chester Municipal Council gave 1st reading of its intention to approve:
- Amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy to remove policies related to archeological assessments for Land Use By-law Amendments and Development Agreements;
- Amendments to the Village of Chester Secondary Planning Strategy to remove policies related to archeological assessments for Village of Chester Land Use By-law Amendments and Development Agreements;
The file is now proceeding to a Public Hearing, where Council will hear comments from members of the public before a final decision is made.
The PUBLIC HEARING is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 8:45 a.m. in Council Chambers, 151 King Street, Chester.
Residents can give their opinions at the Public Hearing and can also send written comments to: Pamela Myra, Municipal Clerk, 151 King Street, PO Box 369, Chester, NS B0J 1J0
Written comments must be received before 4:30 p.m. on Monday May 25, 2026
Council may vote to approve or reject the amendments following the Public Hearing.
